Why do I run?
Because I can. And hopefully will continue to keep it that way as long as I can. Besides fitness it allows me time for self reflection and preservation - moment to take a step back. Running long distance was first introduced to me in Oman in 1992. Back then it was just a spectator sport. In 2007 I met a bunch of super motivated men and women who were not just runners, they were runners with a cause. I knew then, I had to act and I joined-in to train and raise funds with Team Asha, for Education of the underpriviliged children in India.
I ran my first marathon in Oct 2007 at MCM Washington DC and the feeling was special. I also raised more than $2600 toward the cause. I didn’t do all of this alone. I had a lot of support from my family, friends, coaches, mentors, well wishers & complete strangers who wanted me to succeed. Thanks to them I transitioned from a spectator to a runner. Not everyone has as many opportunities as I’ve had and for that I am thankful. Thousands of children in India do not have access to basic education. Asha for Education strives to change that.
This year I will be running the White Rock Marathon in Dallas with Team Asha and raising funds for a Project in Maharashtra called the Vatsalya Trust - http://www.ashanet.org/projects/project-view.php?p=1009 -
My goal is to raise $2620 and I need your support. You can donate towards my goal by clicking on the DONATE icon on my page. Let’s make a difference together. Thank you for your support and for keeping me on my toes.
