Running with Asha
Asha for Education is a volunteer run organization aiming to catalyze socio-economic change in India through education. The objectives of the group are:
- To provide access to education for underprivileged children in India
- To promote universal education and decrease child labor
- To support grass roots initiatives in deprived and marginalized communities in India
- To address, whenever possible, other issues affecting human life such as health care, environmental and socio-economic issues, women's issues, human rights issues, etc.

I’ve always enjoyed running and reading so Asha seemed like the perfect organization to become involved with. I’ve never run more than a few miles and the Dallas Running Club’s Half Marathon on November 1st will be my first attempt at a long distance race. I’ve pledged to raise $1500. Contributions to Asha are 100% tax deductible in the US (under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code), and 50% tax deductible in India (under section 80G of the Income tax act).
